Presidential Aide Reveals What This Election Is All About. .

The special assistant to the president on public affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, on Sunday revealed what the forthcoming elections is really about.

Speaking with the Nation Correspondence in Abuja, Okupe said the election is beyond the presidential candidates of the People Democratic Party(PDP), President Goodluck Jonathan and the All Progressive Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd).

He said the elections were about stability of the country, and pleaded with the North to wait for the 2019 presidency, after Jonathan completes his second term in office, he described Northern region as ' Unequivocal' and 'Indispensable' opportunity to rule the country for eight years.

Okupe asserted that the Yorubas were no longer causing trouble since their son has been allowed to rule the country for eight years.
"why can we not concede this remaining four years? " he asked.

"when MKO died and  civilian politics was
brought back for us to vote, the North sat
down and met and decided that because
of injustice done to Yoruba people,  Yoruba
must present the next president at that time.
And they called the nation to accept and buy
into a national consensus to patronise
Yoruba people. Stability of this country.
That is the role of the North has always
played in politics of Nigeria", Okupe said.

"Both North and South have always given concessionary consideration to each other. When we went for independence,  the North was not ready;  the South waited in 1958, the colonial masters had agreed to give Nigeria independence  but the North said they were not ready.  Nnamdi Azikwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and other Southern leaders conceded.  They agreed and said they will for their brothers.  So, we did not start concession for peace just now we have always try to balance the polity and not create problem in the county.  Now,  Goodluck Jonathan comes from an area that, in perpetuity, has always been the strongest ally of the North", he said.

Meanwhile, Okupe, who is renowned for fiery speaking, recently threatened that henceforth,  anyone who describes President Goodluck Jonathan with ridiculous and unpredictable names will not be spared.

The controversial aideis seen in political circle as the 'attack dog' of the presidency and he has been consistent in defending the president against  perceived political opponents.
